Royal London Society for Blind People
The RLSB visited Avenue House School on Tuesday, 6th December 2016. Pupils were made aware of the various challenges faced by a person who is blind alongside the strategies used to navigate the day to day.
Our visitors elaborated on the technology now available to enable an individual to lead an independent life. The children were particularly interested in the faithful companion who accompanied our guests. Incredibly well-trained, ‘Nugget’ enjoyed the attention nonetheless.
This assembly presented a special opportunity to understand more about disability and the inspirational talk delivered by an accomplished musician passed on an important message that:
‘You should not allow anything to deter you from achieving your dreams’
“Pupils make a strong start to their education. From their different starting points, all children, including those with SEN and EAL, make rapid progress.”
