Macmillan Coffee Morning 2011

Late summer sunshine on the 30th September set the tone for our annual coffee morning. An abundance of bountiful bakes, tempting aromas, and the warmest of welcomes were encountered at a visual and mouth-watering feast. Thanks to all those parents, old and new, who contributed in every way to make this another special and successful event: special because 2011 is a landmark year for Macmillan, their 100th anniversary and successful as we raised a staggering £1076.50.    All this for such a worthy cause and from a school of this size!

Thanks to Dr Sharma and lots of parent helpers, it was a smooth, well organised occasion.

It was a relaxed and sociable morning, with opportunities to meet other parents, headmistress and staff. It was a time of serious fund raising, waist line stretching, excited whispers and longing stares from eagle- eyed salivating pupils who stole a glance and smell!!

In anticipation, their patience was rewarded when every child had an opportunity to sample the cakes and biscuits at the end of school.

Nursery and reception marked the event by taking home the special balloons, whilst other pupils appeared to leave with a little “bag of bakes” and yes it is true, we “let them eat cake”!

Thanks to everyone who helped make this event such a success.

Red Nose Day

Friday 18th March was Red Nose Day. The children all supported this event by wearing their own clothes and making a donation. Some children 'did something funny for money' by dying their hair red or wearing their clothes back to front for the day. After a busy week with the play we really appreciate the effort made by the children and parents to supprt this important day. Throughout the day children were involved with many red nose related activities and a special assembly was held for the whole school. We watched a video clip to help us understand how money raised can help change a person's life and we all performed the Red Nose Day song, with actions and much enthusiasm!  More photos can be viewed on Year group pages and in the Gallery area.
