Art, Music & Drama
Art
Art plays a very significant part in the children’s education at Avenue House School. All the children get the opportunity to learn about artists past and present and art from different cultures.
As well as form lessons the children continue to be involved in exciting art activities.
In May 2009 we held an exhibition at the PM Gallery, Walpole Park, Ealing called “Growing our Future”.
“The best exhibition here since Howard Hodgkin.”
“Best work I’ve seen in year’s well done.”
“Amazing this was made from rubbish. What an achievement.”
During the past academic year every child has contributed to painting decorative wooden fish, which are displayed in the playground. Our next project will be ceramic mosaics.
The walls at Avenue House School are vibrant with artwork including the “Growing our Future” exhibition work.
“Creativity abounds in inspirational displays around the school which reveals exceptional skills in art and design.” Independent Schools Inspectorate.
Photographs of our artwork will regularly be updated on this site, please keep an eye on out for our new projects.
Music
In addition to the music lessons on the curriculum, children have the opportunity for individual piano and guitar lessons during the school day. The children are encouraged to take the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Grade examinations. We have a recorder group at lunchtime where instruments are provided and this is a great introduction to reading staff notation and playing as an ensemble. There is an after-school classical guitar group where all levels of ability are welcome, and an after-school group for both Junior and Senior Choir where a great time is had by all!
Music Recital
On Wednesday 22nd June a Music Recital was held at St Stephen's Church. There were performances by Junior and Senior Choir, guitar club, reocrder club, ballet club and individuals. For more photograhs please visit the Gallery section.

Drama
The Junior Production of The Emperor and the Nightingale took place on Thursday 16th June. Please visit our Gallery section to see more photographs.
Our Senior Production of Olivia at Questors on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th March was a great success. Read the review below by Nicholas Morrison to find out more! You will also enjoy looking at the many photographs within our Gallery section. Follow the link for Olivia to see the brilliant cast in action.
An additional surprise came when, following the visit of an agent from the Nina Gold Casting Agency to the senior production of Olivia, some girls were invited to audition for a film. Read one child's account of the whole experience. My Experience with a Casting Agent
