Summer Term

Nursery Art

The Nursery children have been looking after some caterpillars in the classroom this term. The children were fascinated to see how fast the caterpillars grew and turned into butterflies. Our display shows caterpillars hiding amongst the leaves with spiders and their webs.

We also made our own butterfly life cycle and butterflies.

London Zoo - 6th June 2008

Listening to a story about Abi the Lioness

The children sat and listened to a story about Abi the lioness and the adventures she had growing up in the zoo. The children joined in the session with actions and sound effects.

We then toured the zoo and looked out for any other baby animals. Have a look at the animals we saw.

Gunnersbury Park - 7th March 2008

Nursery at Gunnersbury Park

The children had a wooden toy that was like a cup with a ball on a piece of string. The children had to flip the ball into the cup

The boys are playing with a wooden toy acrobat. When the two sticks are squeezed the acrobat moves up to the top.

The children had to put the wooden soldier together. He was circles that fitted on a central pole.

Playing with a small wooden spinning top. When it was spun they had to bend down and see if they could pick it up on a piece of paper, which is perfectly demonstrated here.

A talk from a diver - January 2008

Mr Bussadori (a parent from Reception), came to give Foundation Phase a talk about sea creatures and his experiences as a diver.

Mr Bussadori        Oxygen Tanks

He showed us his mask, and his oxygen tanks. We also looked at different pictures of sea creatures that Mr Bussadori had taken on his dives. Obviously the children were fascinated by his shark tales and he showed us a sharks tooth that he keeps as a souvenir and some rocks that contained fossils. The children really enjoyed the talk.
