Swine Flu Advice - September 2009 Update:

Children with flu-like symptoms should stay away from school until they are free from those symptoms.  Parents should contact the National Pandemic Flu Service on 0800 1513513 or at www.pandemicflu.direct.gov.uk
 
 
The typical symptoms are:

• a sudden fever (a high body temperature of 38°C/100.4°F or above), and


• a sudden cough.

Other symptoms may include:

• headache,


• tiredness, 


• chills,


• aching muscles,


• limb or joint pain,


• diarrhoea or stomach upset,


• sore throat,


• runny nose,


• sneezing, or


• loss of appetite.

To protect yourself from swine flu please follow these basic principles:

• Covering your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, using a tissue when possible.


• Disposing of dirty tissues promptly and carefully.


• Washing your hands frequently with soap and water to reduce the spread of the virus from your hands to your face or to other people.


• Cleaning hard surfaces (such as door handles) frequently using a normal cleaning product.


• Making sure your children follow this advice.
