Oak have been busy lately - take a look.
In Year 3 we have been learning how to combine photgraphic images with paint effects. We have learned to choose our tools carefully to create just the right effect. We have disguised ourselves as animals, can you guess who we are? | ![]() | ![]() |

The children in Yr. 3 (Oak) have been drawing self portraits. They have been encouraged to fill their piece of paper and have learnt to express mood and feeling through their choice of hot and cold colours. The children had lots of fun making woven pictures, working with photocopies of their original paintings. Some interesting images were created.
Finally the class worked with collage cutting and sticking a variety of fabrics to make these vibrant clothed figures.

During the first part of the Autumn Term 2007 Oak Yr. 3 studied African artwork. They firstly drew their patterns filling strips with zig zags, diamonds spots etc. To add colour they worked with paints, pastels, pencils, inks and chalks, adding layer upon layer of colour resulting in these rich, vibrant pieces of artwork. During the project the children discovered how the different mediums could work together, the most popular being scratching into their work
Since half term Oak yr. 3 have been looking at paintings by Klimt. Everyone used their imaginations to paint how they thought Klimt's Apple Tree painting looked after just having the following description read to them.
'Klimt has painted an apple tree in a meadow. It's a scratchy sort of tree. Is it there or not? The tree takes up a central position on the canvas and Klimt has surrounded it with pointillism dots that represent a multitude of flowers. It is only in the foreground of the picture that you can clearly see the form of the flowers. The overall haze of the picture is a pale green.'
The children's paintings were amazingly accurate!
Finally the children have painted a picture of a Sunflower in the stlye of Klimt. They built up layers of acrylic paint and pastels resulting in these wonderful rich pictures. Some children decided to add patterns to the corners or sides of their image to give their work a real Klimt feel.
