London Dungeons - 20 November 2008

On Thursday the 20 th November Cedar went on atrip to the London Dungeons. The following is a poem about the trip:

Last Thursday our form went to town,
We travelled on the underground
Our destination was revered
The London Dungeons that we feared.

We queued up, our nerves were beaten
We thought our teacher had been eaten
But then we had our photo taken
So now we were much less shaken

A toilet break was next in line,
Johanna thought that this was fine
And she decided she would stay
In the light throughout the day!

But no! Our next location waited
The mirrored rooms, we nearly fainted
Those who were leading went around
And finally a way out we found

The plague was our next horror
Once again we filled with terror
Jenny lost her sense of humour
She cried (or was that just a rumour?)

We were squired with contagious pus
My word! The screaming – what a fuss!
We then entered the surgeon’s room
This was where we met our doom!

Miss Dawes was called out to the front
The person there he gave a grunt
And told her that she smelt of wee!
This gave us all a sense of glee!

The torture room awaited next
And Eloise was much perplexed.
She was thrown into a metal cage
And spoken to with violent rage

We looked at tools to torture men
And tongue removers, once again
We were afraid of what would loom
And marched into the dark courtroom

One by one, folk were embarrassed
They were laughed at and were harassed
One man was guilty of wearing a dress
Why he did it – anyone’s guess!

A scary walk was next for us
We were feeling adventurous
Except for Jenny who was still crying
Although she is still denying!

We were shepherded to a little boat
All the people held their throat
We motored through the Traitor’s Gate
And wondered what would be our fate!

The Barber shop with Sweeney Todd
The red and white of cloth and blood
Sweat was pouring down our face
Our heart beat going at a pace

Jack the Ripper was introduced
For his actions no excuse
The ladies of the night were harmless
And ended up pretty gutless!

To the Inn to another story
Continued to be very gory
We were all shocked into silence
By the presence of such violence

The Fire of London started in
The King’s bakers, what a sin
To let the great old city burn
An important lesson all did learn

Not to leave the oven open
And kindling near the fire awoken
The Fire spread quickly through the city
And burnt all houses – what a pity!

Our final treat was gallows or escape
A few chose life and rest their fate
We plunged from 30 feet above the ground
But landed happy safe and sound

It was a truly funny day
(Although Jenny might not say!)
We all got back to school in time
And then decided to write this rhyme!
