Avenue House School is looking forward to the Art Exhibition which opens on Thursday 14th May.
On Saturday 25th April the AHSPSC ran their first sponsored walk in Pitshanger Park. Monies raised from this walk will be going towards much needed new equipment for the “Eco- Garden. The rain which had started the day off, eased completely leading to a bright (albeit a little breezy) sunny day. Perfect conditions for walking!
There was a good turn out with a total 32 children participating with their parent’s and siblings. Every child and parent managed to walk (some even run) more than one lap of the route (approx ¾ mile). On average the children completed 4 laps each (not bad considering some were only 3 years old). I think the lure of a biscuit in the play centre spurred everyone on. A drink and a Bourbon were enough to get back on the track and complete another lap. Some children were very competitive especially the Maple girls with Katelyn and Alicia completing 10 laps each . Lucy G , James and Brooke came in second with a total of 9 laps each. I am sure if we did not need to leave the Playcentre they may have carried on longer. The children in year 6 did a very admirable job of looking after and spurring the younger ones on. I am sure some would not have walked so far without Eloise’s and Jenny's help.
The event was very much a social occasion with parents from all year groups chatting over their very much deserved coffees. In fact it was getting quite hard to lock up the playcentre and return the key as people wanted to stay longer.

It was lovely to see so many children and parents attend to support the choir in the festive cheer and count down to the lighting of the tree. The new Mayor officially opened the event at 6pm and then The Avenue was filled with the happy, tuneful sounds of ‘Winter Wonderland’ and ‘Jingle Bells’.

We were then treated to hot chocolate and presents from Santa and his reindeer at Café Onik and the children once again filled the air with cheerful melodies.

It was a lovely evening and the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you to all parents who attended the event and supported the school once again.

On Tuesday 12th February a representative came to talk to all the children about GOSH and what exactly it is that they do.
The children asked lots of questions and learned about what is needed to make children's lives better whan they are in hospital. Things are made to be bright and fun so that children feel more relaxed when they are away from home.
Some of our pupils were surprised to learn that children who are in hospital for longer periods actually have schooling. The children like it because going to school feels normal and when you are in a strange situation anything that makes you feel more normal can be very important.
GOSH also provide beds for family members to stay overnight so that children do not have to be on their own.
The children from Avenue House School can help GOSH by completing the 'Body Challenge' or 'Picture Challenge'.
Each child has been given a leaflet that contains one of the challenges and a sponsorship form. The children have to find as many body words or pictures as they can. They can be sponsored for each word that they find or for simply completing the challenge.
All the money raised will go towards an important cause. Remember that even a few pence from each child can really make a difference.
The children can bring any money raised back to school in the envelope provided before 7th March.
Avenue House had a very special visitor, the Mayor of Ealing. The Mayor came to meet the children and also awarded one pupil with a prize that she won for coming third in a local competition. The children sang to the Mayor who was very impressed.
