Mr Roy Bartlett

Mr Roy Bartlett , author of “ A Little Boy’s War” came and spoke to the pupils at Avenue House School in November 2006. Since then he has become a “Household” name at Avenue House School. The children all recognise him and are delighted when he visits to share his wealth of knowledge. He spoke about his childhood and growing up in Ealing during the Second World War. It is obvious from the letters that GurkirethJayMoemiSabasadatSophia  and Theodore wrote to thank Mr Bartlett that they sincerely appreciated what he had to say.

At the schools prize in July 2007 giving Mr Bartlett gave a heart-warming speech and it was a delight to hear that he treasures being “part and parcel” of Avenue House School as much as Avenue House is honoured to be associated with him.

Explaining Rationing

Mr Bartlett explained rationing on one of his visits.

He visited again in November 2007 and to discuss the meaining of Remembrance Day. He gave two assemblies and again captured the attention and interest of all the children - some who were very concerned about Father Christmas during the war!

In May 2008 he spent the day at Avenue House School for the World War II Day held at the school. He spoke to children, teachers and parents about his experiences as a young boy during the war.
